We will work in particular on the relationship between the awareness and affectivity of basic somatic processes (breath-touch-movement) and the embodiment of plant processes towards the composition of a mourning ritual for anthropogenic ecological losses as an act of care and gentle reparation.
— raffaele rufo (masterclass facilitator)

🤸‍♀️ intended PUBLIC

We aim to facilitate a collaborative and creative exchange among participants.

💡 ABOUT THE MASTERCLASS

This masterclass is a unique opportunity to approach or consolidate your experience in the field of ecosomatics. What is ecosomatics? How does it work? Where does it come from? What are its contents, approaches and fields of applications? Ecosomatics (from "oikos," home or habitat, and "soma," the living body in its wholeness) is a fast-growing field of practices that are spreading nationally and internationally by integrating artistic, educational, holistic and therapeutic knowledges oriented toward bodily experience with ecological, social and cultural knowledges oriented toward community and land regeneration. Ecosomatic practices are set to impact broader areas of society such as education, health, social work, urban planning, ecology and culture. The event is part of a series of masterclasses that will involve a network of national and international experts in this field.

Engaging the experience of the embodied self as connected and continuous with an embodied nature requires exploring and affirming the value of sensoriality as a key gateway into knowing and being.
— Raffaele Rufo (masterclass facilitator)

The masterclass engages ecosomatics as a pluriverse of practices of listening with the planet and seeding human-nature reciprocity. Breath is the most vivid and accessible example of how life works through immersion and compenetration of the human within the earth and the cosmos, and of the earth and the cosmos within the human. Raffaele’s work draws attention to how listening and seeding reciprocity start from confronting the tragedy of our destructive cultural heritage and regaining the ability to grieve for ecological losses. Ecosomatic practices are a gateway to recognise the perceptual roots of ecological crises and seed the regeneration of humanity as a form of ecological regeneration.
