ECO-SPIRITUALITY THROUGH DANCE

Embodying Reciprocity With Earth

An EcoSomatic Dance Workshop with Dr Raffaele Rufo

Part of “The Ecological Conversion”

A workshop in Taizé (France), 10-13 November 2022

Organised by EUROPEAN LAUDATO SI’ ALLIANCE / SPIRITUALITY AND ECOLOGY 2022

Ecological conversion is not only a mental conversion, it is also a bodily conversion. To restore our relationship with the earthly ground within which we are radically embedded we need to restore our relationship with our bodies in their living wholeness - our bodies experienced through direct sensory perception as a source of joy, connection and knowledge. This eco-somatic workshop offers participants a gentle pathway into simple processes, tools and perspectives for embodying reciprocity with earth.

Eco-somatics is a growing field of embodied research and practice that combines the knowledge systems of Somatics and Ecology to expand our felt sense of self to include the wider web of our relations by re-rooting us back into our bodies and awakening sensory perception.

We aim to run the workshop outdoor. Please come in comfortable clothing appropriate to the weather (ideally a warm tracksuit).

RAFFAELE RUFO (PhD) is an artist-scholar-educator in the fields of somatics, dance and performance. The body - as ecologically perceived and as perceiving the more-than-human ecologies of life - is the main site of his inquiry. After traveling across Europe, Africa and Australia for more than twenty years, Raffaele now resides with his wife and two young children in the State Natural Reserve of the Roman Coast (Italy). There he explores the eco-somatic relationship between body and earth to develop and disseminate collaborative processes, tools and perspectives of ecological connection that can help envision the emergence of livable futures. www.raffaelerufo.com/ecosomatics
